Child Custody and Parenting Time

Child Custody

In a divorce action, or an action for child custody or parenting time to non-married parents, the court is required to follow specific laws when evaluating physical custody, legal custody or parenting time. It is important to understand this law, often referred to as the Best Interest Factors, as well as the effects of physical custody and legal custody.

At McCroskey Law, we carefully explain the law to you, helping you to understand your options. We listen to you and carefully craft a case based on your facts and circumstances to maximize your time with your child.

Parenting Time

Michigan law guarantees a parent the right to visitation with his or her child unless clear and convincing evidence shows that it would endanger the child’s physical, mental or emotional health. MCL 722.27a. Whether you are petitioning to initiate parenting time with your child, increase or modify an existing parenting time order, or even seeking a complete change of custody, the attorneys at McCroskey Law will provide the guidance and legal expertise to present a strong case to the court.
